The new ‘I Love Chanel’ video for Rouge Allure lipstick shows just eyes and Rouge Allure Pirate coloured lips quoting Mademoiselle Chanel’s famous line: “If you are sad, if you are disappointed in love, put on your makeup, give yourself some beauty care, put on lipstick and attack. Men hate weeping women.” See the video and it’s inspiration.
‘I Love Chanel’ is the luxury retailer’s latest video for Rouge Allure lipstick and pays tribute to photographer Erwin Blumenfeld’s 1950 American Vogue cover. The video, directed by Norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø, shows just the eyes and Rouge Allure Pirate coloured lips of model Barbara Palvin quoting the legendary Coco Chanel. Electro beats are Goldfrapp’s Strict Machine. Now here’s the original inspiration.
When Erwin Blumenfeld photographed an eye and a mouth and a single beauty spot, he epitomized sophisticated womanhood of the time and created a startlingly beautiful image of model Jean Patchette.
Blumenfeld’s ability to distill the essence of the girl and fashion into one image was unparalleled.
His photos were as much due to his darkroom technique and mastery of the Hasselblad camera.
Blumenfeld was held in high regard during the 1940s and 50s; at the apex of his career, he was the highest-paid photographer in the world.
The new ROUGE ALLURE collection has six of the best reds of the season and the formulation has a new creamier texture and more vivid colour. Love that!
